Change is Okay
It’s scary, and that’s healthy.

Life is unpredictable
If you asked me a year ago today if I believed I would create a new company, travel across the country with it, then completely dismantle the vision after multiple “failed” attempts… I’d call BS.
But alas... Here I am.
Street Coffee Collective, is no longer a company serving cups of coffee. What started with a grand plan of cafes, mobile units, classes, and much more, has turned into something aligned a lot more with the name of the brand. It’s become a proper collective. Or… will be once we get things moving.
What does that mean though? Well… I’m not sure. It starts with simply being a network of coffee industry people supporting each other. I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, including my own, by sharing all of our ideas and thoughts. For now, we are just looking for people interested in helping people. Hopefully offering a roster of coffee professionals for hire by coffee companies, and a roaster of coffee companies for hire by clients/customers.
I wouldn’t expect super consistent activity from it quite yet, but as we grow… who knows!
But what will you do now?!
Good question… I left Roast (my previous employer). I had stopped taking events as The Wizard. Up until maybe 2 weeks ago, I thought this would become my full time job. Now I’m in a state of limbo. A free agent, if you will. And I intend to use that freedom to continue doing what I do. Trying to make really cool experiences/moments for people. Hopefully making enough to pay the bills in the process.
The secret? I’ve developed a healthy relationship with uncertainty, by investing in my support system anytime I’m available. The Coffee Wizard is a family/friends man. And I’d probably be paralyzed without them. But with their support, and a radical belief in myself, I am able to sit here today… not know what the hell I’m actually going to do to start paying the bills, and I am content. Still nervous of course, but I can sit with that nervousness and still act. Knowing that if I fail, I won’t be judged. They’ll just pick my ass up and throw me back in the ring. Like a good support system does.
If you ever find yourself at the crossroads of change, remember that you are likely much less alone than you feel. I mean, if you’re reading this then you’ll always have me to remind you that.. change is okay.
